to protect all workers from second hand smoke

Heather helps out in Alberta

During the period 2002 to 2005, Heather visited Alberta four times.  While Alberta still does not have satisfactory provincial legislation to control second-hand smoke, Heather made a difference in many ways, including influencing many municipalities to pass smoke-free by-laws.  Les Hagen of Action on Smoking and Health (Alberta) was kind enough to  pay a visit to Ottawa in March of 2006 to visit Heather at the Elisabeth-Bruyère Centre where she now lives.  He wrote a letter summarizing all of Heather's amazing achievements.

Les also wrote a summary of Heather's many successes in Alberta.

But Heather is also planning for a better future for other workers.  She has travelled across Canada, promoting changes to municipal, provincial and federal law to better protect workers from second-hand smoke.  She has allowed her story to be told in government advertisements and news stories.

Heather is watching carefully - and impatiently -  as Canadian cities and provinces improve their laws.

You can help her reach her goal by urging your provincial and federal representatives to better protect Canadian workers.  Find out how.
