What's sells -
and where
The tobacco
market varies markedly across Canada -- and brand which are top sellers
in some provinces (like Mark Ten in Quebec) are not even for sale in
other regions. Fine-cut (loose tobacco) is not much sold in Ontario or
Quebec, but represents more than a quarter of the cigarettes smoked in
Atlantic Canada.
Market statistics are collected by
each of CAnada's tobacco companies and reported to Health Canada.
Brand-by-brand information has not been released by the government, but
is published by a convenience store trade association. The figures
below were taken from the very useful and informative web-site
